The layout of the New Contacts Preview from Google seems to have hidden some features. As the roll-out seems to be expanding to more consumer accounts, I have seen an increase in inquiries regarding selecting contacts: specifically how to Select All.
Its an easy thing to miss, but its also a Palm-To-Forehead moment for many. This can be done right from the main contacts screen or from a search result. In order to Select All quickly, you select one contact by clicking on the profile picture on the left. Once you select one, you will see 1 selected in the blue bar at the top. Next to the 1 selected is a drop down arrow, click on that and you are provided with an option to Select All or Select None. The latter will deselect any contacts that have been selected. See below for how this appears on the screen.
Brilliant, searched all through google help without success and then found your answer. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGlad to help
DeleteFYI this doesn't appear if you are viewing a G Suite company directory. Which the whole directory is a flawed system. You have to select all then add to contacts...THEN re-add phone numbers since that doesn't transfer
ReplyDeleteI think many of us want to select a large group of contacts without selecting them one at a time. For example, I want to select all contacts with neither a telephone number nor an email address. I can't figure out how to select a large group of contacts in Google Contacts.
ReplyDeletehow do you select all and make them not favorites? i.e. get rid of the star that somehow mysteriously showed up on all my contacts.
ReplyDeleteI am not getting that when I select all - only the ones that were already starred are starred
DeleteGmail comes up with a error message of too many recipients when I try to do this?????Anyway around the fault? Is there a default maximum number I can select?
