Thanks to +Guntis Endzelis who alerted me to this neat little trick. If you ever want to add line breaks to your reminders using Inbox by Gmail, you can. Simply press the enter key twice to add a line break. Very simple, and for many, maybe very useful.
Note: When the email is not open, the reminder that displays under the email does not include the line breaks - only when the email is open. See images below.

Hi Scott,
ReplyDeleteI tried, but does not work. May be I am doing something wrong.
I just tested this again and still works - Are you sure you are hitting Enter twice? What browser are you using?
DeleteThanks for the answer Scott.
ReplyDeleteI tested in Google Chrome and Firefox. Not working, so I am confused. I am using Google Inbox: https://inbox.google.com/
It does not work with standalone reminders only reminders attached to an email
DeleteYou can put in multi line reminders by pasting them from another application.
ReplyDeleteSo if you write it in notepade & copy & paste it in.
Not ideal, but it works.
Hi Scott,
ReplyDeletethanks for that tipp. This is a pretty nice feature i would like to use, but it doesn´t work for me. Each time i press "return" it just automatically saves the note immidiatly. I really don´t know how to fix this. Do you know this problem? Thanks a lot!
It doesnt work on stand alone reminders, only on reminders on emails
DeleteThanks - i know that. But the effect is on both methods the same. I really just need this feature on reminders on mails to make me some notes what is already done or what is still to do. A bit like Notes4Gmail...
DeleteStrange as I just tested it and it works fine - can you test in an incognito window to see if one of your extensions is causing this issue?
DeleteGot it! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe Problem is quite simple - I used a laptop with firefox. Just tried it on my other laptop with Chrome - and it works! Fantastic. Thank you so much! I´m really glad about this. Makes Inbox quite perfect for me! (I just miss it to send an EMail to a group or label of my contacts like in GMail. Therefor i save the Mail in Inbox, change to Gmail, add the Adresses and send it...)
Best wishes and thank you, Heiko
There are no multiple reminders?
ReplyDeleteNo but when the reminder does appear you cn snooze it to come back again. A defacto multiple reminder
DeleteThanks Scott - I was not clear about what I wanted: I wanted to have several reminders at the same time, not recurring reminders. For an email I might both have: 1 - Follow up with Jack on location for next meeting and 2 - Contact client B for their balance sheet
DeleteAhh no, that you cant do, but you can just create stand along reminders to get additional ones.
DeleteThanks Scott - fingers crossed such functionality is around the corner, or maybe some function to group several reminders and/or emails into a category or "project" to get better overview over all one has to do...
ReplyDeleteThanks for this!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to comment that I did make it work using a textexpander, for instance ProKeys in Chrome and setting a specific character to extend into an enter. It works on normal reminders to. You can also set rich html characters to even spice up your notes with arrows, bullets, and so on.
