Opinion: The Social Media Conundrum

Google Plus, Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, Vine, Instagram, Snapchat, Pintrest, Blogger, Medium, Huffington Post, and the list goes on.

I have lots of followers on Twitter, G+, Linked In, and Facebook. These are the social media outlets I use, yet I keep seeing so many people using the multitude of other outlets as well. To be honest I am not sure why. I am not sure anymore which is better to use to reach the right audience. I am not even sure what the purpose of some of the others are and why they are so successful.

Why do I need an outlet to post my pictures when I can store them locally or on a cloud photo storage app like Google Photos, Amazon Photos, One Drive, DropBox or others. It seems to me I can just link or upload those photos to my posts on the major players such as G+, Facebook, or Twitter.

I am not trying to be snarky or anything like that here, I am looking to all of you to help me understand this greater world of social media and if I need to create accounts on the ones I am not using. Would love to hear feedback and reasons why I should or should not use the other social media.
